Salzburg Photos: Fountain at Residenz
return to "summer
photos 2"

This picture shows the Residenzbrunnen, supposedly the biggest Baroque fountain
outside of Italy. Note the little rainbow behind the sea horse. The pink tower
left of the fountain is the one of the church
St. Michael, the white tower right
of the fountain is the Glockenspiel (Salzburg Carillion) in the Neue Residenz.
The latter building is also home to the Salzburg Museum, the trendy new town
museum. The fountain can be found right at the Residenzplatz, which is in turn
framed by the Salzburger Dom (Cathedral),
the Residenz Palace, a lane of
Medieval houses and the Neue Residenz mentioned above. It is the biggest and
most prominent square in Salzburg's Old Town or Altstadt
and can't be missed by
any tourist.
