The money-shot: A panorama view on the Altstadt (Old Town)
of Salzburg, with the
full array of the Salzach, various spires and the
Festung Hohensalzburg
(Salzburg Castle). The picture was taken from the
Kapuzinerberg hill in early
summer 2008. That year, temperatures rose quickly after a very cold spring -
resulting in a beautifully green city framed by snow-white mountain tops. On the
horizon, you can see the white Alpine mountain ranges of the
Tennengebirge, the
Hagengebirge / Göll and finally just right of the castle the
Untersberg. The
hike up Kapuzinerberg was worth it just for this single picture.
