Salzburg Photos: Nun at Maria Plain
return to "summer
photos 2"

An elderly (alright: ancient) nun walking on a hill just outside of the Basilica
Maria Plain. The basilica is the most important church of pilgrimage in the
immediate surroundings of Salzburg and offers great views on the city. Here you
can see the spires of various Baroque churches, overshadowed by the
Festung
Hohensalzburg (Salzburg Castle). In the background, note the snow white mountain
tops of the Hagengebirge and Göll Massif. You can get to Maria Plain by city
busses within a few minutes from the city centre; get off at the stop "Plainbrücke",
it takes about 10 to 15 minutes walk to the basilica.
