Salzburg Photos: Baroque Fountain "Residenz Brunnen"
return to "summer
photos"
The Residenzbrunnen Fountain next to the
Salzburger Dom Cathedral is situated right in between the
old and the
new Residenz palaces on
Residenzplatz - once the two representative buildings of Salzburg′s Prince Archbishops. The Residenzbrunnen is said to be the biggest Baroque fountain outside of Italy. It is a very popular and very central location in Salzburg and usually rather crowded. For a less busy fountain, try to walk around the cathedral and stop by the
Kapitelschwemme, a fountain that once had a profane use: To wash horses and provide them with water to drink.
