Famous Baroque Fountain: Residenzbrunnen in Salzburg

The Residenzbrunnen Fountain next to the Salzburger Dom Cathedral is situated right in between the old and the new Residenz palaces on Residenzplatz - once the two representative buildings of Salzburg′s Prince Archbishops. The Residenzbrunnen is said to be the biggest Baroque fountain outside of Italy. It is a very popular and very central location in Salzburg and usually rather crowded. For a less busy fountain, try to walk around the cathedral and stop by the Kapitelschwemme, a fountain that once had a profane use: To wash horses and provide them with water to drink.
