Things to Do in St. Gilgen am Wolfgangsee
St. Gilgen is the most popular town in the Flachgau area in terms of tourism; this is due to Lake Wolfgangsee with many water sport opportunities; the famous cable car to Mount Zwölferhorn; the cog railway on Mount Schafsberg; the boat cruises; the general prettiness of St. Gilgen, and the mountain scenery surrounding it. St. Gilgen is the quintessential Salzkammergut Village. The disadvantage: During the summer months, St. Gilgen gets packed up with tourists. In winter, it has a famous Christmas Market.
