Salzburg Photos: Mount Untersberg & the Fortress
return to "winter
photos 2"

Moving from the Festung Hohensalzburg (Salzburg Fortress)
northwards, one soon
gets to the Mönchsberg and some stretches of forest and green areas. The
Mönchsberg belongs to the most important recreational areas of Salzburg and is
good for easy hiking throughout the year - even if you are old, disabled, busy
carrying children or nagging girlfriends, the Mönchsberg will allow you to go at
least for a little bit of walking. If you prefer to do it all mechanically,
there is a lift that links the city centre from
Anton-Neumayr-Platz with the
look-out platform of the Museum der Moderne (Museum of Modern Art). This picture
was taken not far from the museum, showing
Mount Untersberg in the background
and the little Rainberg hill in the foreground.
