Salzburg Photos: Parish Church of Mülln
return to "winter
photos 2"
The district of Mülln was named after the many mills that one could once find in
this part of Salzburg. It is the northern-most part of the
Altstadt or Old Town
and often neglected by international tourists, who usually come only for one
attraction of the area: The Müllner Bräu or Augustiner Bräustübl. This brewery
with huge beer halls and Austria's biggest beer garden is the area's claim to
fame; the entrance to it can be found right behind the church in this picture,
the Müllner Stadtpfarrkirche or Parish Church. The church was also part of the
Augustinian monastery once; today, the former monastery is used by the parish
administration and the brewery, which belongs to the Benedictine monastery of
Michaelbeuern in the Flachgau village of
Dorfbeuern. It is open troughout the
year, only the beer garden closes during winter.
