Salzburg Photos: Beehive in the Snow

A traditional beehive at an old farmhouse in Salzburg. Obviously,
beehives like this are generally not in use in Austria anymore. We took this
picture because we liked the motive, but there is relatively little to say about
beehives in general or this one in particular. Thus, let us say a few words
about traditional farming practices: If you are interested in things like that,
note the Salzburg Museum and its branch on folk culture, the
Volkskundemuseum im
Monatsschlössl; by far the best place nearby will be the open-air museum of
Großgmain with dozens of traditional farm houses from all over the province of
Salzburg. The museum makes a great day-trip from Salzburg.
