Salzburg Photos: Altstadt (Old TOwn)

Another one of the classic Salzburg shots that almost every tourist will get: The view on the Old Town (Altstadt) from the Mönchsberg, framed by the hill of the Kapuzinerberg (left) and the Fortress Hohensalzburg (right). In the background, you can see some summits of the Northern Calciferous Alps, in the foreground, you can see the innumerable Medieval and Baroque town houses and the spires of various Baroque churches. The big bridge at the centre of the photo is the Staatsbrücke. This picture was taken in January, when Salzburg was under a thick snow cover. Note that even under conditions like this, the Mönchsberg offers safe and convenient opportunities for hiking and accessing various look-outs.
